Larry’s Newsletter
May 2023
Hello folks! It’s been a while since I wrote a newsletter.
It’s good to be able to share some good news again! The Covid is OVER! Yeah! Finally! It hurt
everyone so much and in many ways!
So, this year what happened? The Pandemic was gone, but mother nature sent us record snow up here
in the Northwood’s of Wisconsin! They said we received 123.9 inches of snow. My music room is in my
basement. So, I have to snowplow with my tractor around the side and back of my place to get to my
walkout. Then shovel that out to move my equipment! Whew! My first job was April 12th , this year and
three days before I was able to get my equipment out and into trailer and into garage and get it heated!
But We got hit hard with a lot of snow since then up to May 1st. I was able to play 5 jobs during this
time! Good thing the weather wasn’t too bad for those days.
Newsletters are supposed to be about great places I will be playing, and /or upcoming events and new
music I am doing! I was playing between 160 and 170 jobs a year before the pandemic! That year we
only played 15 jobs! I seem now to be on track to play 50 to 60 jobs this year!
Then last year it got slightly better. I was able to get out playing music 32 times! And it was fun again,
people seemed to be happier, and I had more people dancing, and making more requests for songs and
they even stuffed the tip jar way more than usual!
I am still playing for Supper Clubs, Restaurants, Resorts, Anniversary parties, High School Reunions,
Private parties, over 95 different Assistant Living and Senior Centers, and many other functions spread
all over the U.P. of Michigan, all of Wisconsin and even back to the Chicago Area where I was raised!
I continue to work on new music and my singing! One of the only good things about Co-vid 19 virus is
because I couldn’t play anywhere, I was able to work on new music! This year I am back playing at two
Supper Clubs and a Brewery, and back to many of the Assisted living centers I used to play for.
I will be returning to play this year during the tourist season at Chef Rene’s in Eagle River Inn located
in Eagle River Wi, I also will be returning to a Supper Club in Land O Lakes WI. I also will be returning To
the Garmisch USA Resort to play for their “Christmas Tree Lighting celebration”, this will be my 11 th year
playing for this great event! I also Was asked by “The Alpha Michigan Brewing Company” to play last
October with my friend Dennis Switlick who plays the Trumpet with me when we play Octoberfest
shows! We have been asked back to play for Octoberfest again this year! There are many other places
that I have been in contact with for this year! So please check my website for updates!
I still love playing a lot of the old American standards (MY Favorites), Country, Jazz, Some big band
Swing, some blues, Pop and some Rock. Music from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s,70’s, 80’s.
So, you may hear music from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Englebert
Humperdink, Andy Williams, Paul Anka, Bobby Vinton, Bobby Darin, Michael Bublé, Ray Price, Jimmy
Buffet, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, John Denver, Glenn Campbell, the Platters, Neil Diamond, Elvis and
more! New Music this year from Neil Young, The Archies, and a bunch of new Latin Jazz Tunes and
“Soulful Strut”!
I have been in talks with many other restaurants and other places! So please keep checking this
website and the “Itinerary” page to see where I will be playing this year!
And as always, “I hope to see you Somewhere, Someplace, Sometime, Soon!”
God Bless!
